Lagos Airport Hotel, a subsidiary of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, was incorporated in 1961. It started business as an owner managed Hotel with 5 rooms in 1942 under the name “Grand Hotel Lagos”. It was renamed “Ikeja Arms Inn“ in 1956 under the ownership and management of Mr. Joseph Harold, a Briton. The present owner bought the company through the Western Region Government in 1959. It became a wholly owned subsidiary of Odua Investment Company Limited through the Indigenization Decree of 1976. Lagos Airport Hotel Limited has remained the hotel of choice serving generations because of its personalized services, location, and comfortability coupled with very courteous and friendly staff which makes the hotel a perfect home-away-from-home.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Head, Engineering Services (Maintenance)
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Role
- The job holder will take charge of the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel building’s infrastructure and exterior.
- His/her duties will revolve around maintaining machinery, planning repair activities, and developing maintenance procedures.
- The job holder will deploy best practices to drive the facility management function of the hotel by managing resources, services, and processes to ensure the effective functioning of the hotel facilities whilst providing an efficient and safe environment for employees and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead maintenance procedures and actions in the hotel.
- Ensure excellent maintenance of the buildings, infrastructure, and the overall appearance of the hotel.
- Manage all machinery and installation, repair, and upkeep operations of the hotel’s facilities.
- Assign repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates.
- Supervise and lead all maintenance processes and operations.
- Create and implement maintenance procedures.
- Plan and manage all repair and installation activities.
- Ensure that all services and upgrades are performed with the least disruption to operations in line with the standard operating procedures
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems and ensure preventative maintenance as and when due.
- Ensure effective and efficient management of the entire facility, equipment, machines, and superstructure.
- Manage stock and equipment according to operational requirements
- Ensure adherence to all departmental standards, processes, and legislative requirements
- Give recommendations to support the business strategy and budget
- Ensure compliance with the overall business objectives and growth strategies
- Ensure monthly budget control as per hotel standards by tracking expenses and overseeing the budget for maintenance.
- Monitor compliance with Health and Safety Policy regulations.
- Generate daily, weekly, monthly progress reports and maintenance logs.
Requirements
- HND / B.Sc / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised Tertiary Institution.
- Professional Qualification (NSE; or COREN).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar environment of which 3 must be at the management level
- Above-average computer literacy – Proficiency in MS Office, data analysis, and reporting statistics.
- Leadership & management skills.
- High interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Exceptional analytical, organizational and report writing skills.
- Agility and ability to work long hours as and when required.
- Experience in hospitality/guest interactions and service.
