Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Technician specializing in materials testing, particularly in soil, asphalt, concrete, and field testing.
As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting various tests to ensure the quality, durability, and safety of construction materials used in our projects.

Responsibilities

Performing Materials Testing: Conduct a variety of tests on soil, asphalt, and concrete samples according to established standards and procedures
Asphalt tests including density, penetration, viscosity, and asphalt content.
Concrete tests such as slump, compressive strength, density, and moisture content.
Field tests to assess the performance and characteristics of materials in real-world conditions.
Sample Preparation: Properly collect, prepare, and handle samples for testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
Instrumentation Operation: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments required for materials testing, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test results meticulously, record data accurately, and prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings.
Communicate results to relevant stakeholders as required.

Requirements

B.Sc / HND in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.
2-4 years experience as a Lab Technician specializing in materials testing, with a focus on soil, asphalt, concrete, and field testing.
Strong knowledge of testing methods, standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO), and procedures related to soil, asphalt, and concrete materials.
Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and instruments used for materials testing.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately analyze and interpret test results.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to quality assurance/control protocols.

Additional Requirements:

Relevant certifications in materials testing (e.g., ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician, NICET, etc.) preferred.
Prior experience in construction or civil engineering projects is advantageous.
Familiarity with software tools for data analysis and reporting is a plus.
