Devatop Centre for Africa Development is a leading youth-led anti-human trafficking and human rights organization in Nigeria, with focus on combating human trafficking, gender-based violence, irregular migration, and supporting survivors and at-risk youth. Devatop Centre for Africa Development is a nonprofit human right, gender equality, anti-humantrafficking, and civic-tech organization. Through advocacy, capacity building, innovation, and partnerships, we strengthen systems that support youth leadership, prevent violence, and promote inclusive development.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title:Â Research Assistant
Location:Â Abuja (with possible field travel)
Work Type: Full-time, On-site
Start Date: 7th January 2026
Duration: 6 Months with possibility of extension based on performance.
About the Role
- We are seeking a qualified and motivated Research Assistant to support evidence generation, analysis, and documentation across our projects and advocacy initiatives.
Position Overview
- The Research Assistant will contribute to designing, planning, and implementing research activities that strengthen our program strategies, policy engagement, and knowledge products.
- The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about human rights and social impact research.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will:
- Support the design, planning, and implementation of research activities across DEVATOP’s projects.
- Conduct literature reviews, desk research, data analysis, and research reporting to inform project design, advocacy, and policy engagement.
- Develop research tools, questionnaires, and data collection frameworks.
- Gather quantitative and qualitative data from field activities, partners, and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the preparation of briefs, survey reports, and evidence summaries.
- Maintain a well-organized research database and ensure data quality and integrity.
- Contribute to writing policy briefs, research summaries, articles, and knowledge products for publication and dissemination.
- Collaborate with external researchers, institutions, and partners as required.
- Support the development of research proposals and grant applications.
- Perform any other research-related tasks as assigned to strengthen the organization’s knowledge base.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Research, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in research, data analysis, and report writing
- Strong skills in conducting literature reviews, developing research tools, and writing reports.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools/software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, STATA, NVivo, Power BI) is an added advantage.
- Excellent writing, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to human rights, gender equality, and social impact.
