African Things aims to change the negative image associated with African manufacture and be a symbol of high-quality production while empowering Africans. We also seek to expand our reach as an online marketplace for locally manufactured African products from across the continent. A few of our past clients include The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, African Capital Alliance, Digital Jewels, and Google. Since our inception of the business in 2013, we have sold to wholesale customers both locally and internationally.

Job Title: Sales Manager

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Overview

  • We are looking for a Sales Manager to join our team and drive sales by interacting with customers who contact us through various channels, especially via WhatsApp.
  • The Sales Manager will be responsible for negotiating with customers on cost and quantity to order, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • The Sales Manager will work closely with the production manager, who will provide them with cost changes and production and delivery times for items ordered.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries through various channels, especially via WhatsApp, and negotiate cost and quantity to order
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Keep up-to-date with the company’s product offerings and pricing changes
  • Work closely with the production manager to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional campaigns and increase sales
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sales or relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a Sales Manager or relevant role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Customer-oriented approach with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Familiarity with WhatsApp and other communication channels
  • Adequate knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of African-made products and the marketplace is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
