Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Special Risks Specialist to join their dynamic team.
  • This role requires a proactive professional with expertise in evaluating, underwriting, and managing complex and unconventional insurance risks.
  • The ideal candidate will develop tailored solutions, provide technical advice, and ensure the company maintains a competitive edge in special risk coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Analyze, evaluate, and underwrite high-value, unconventional, and special insurance risks across various sectors.
  • Policy Development: Develop and structure bespoke insurance policies and coverage plans to meet the unique needs of clients.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor trends in the special risks insurance market to identify opportunities and mitigate potential challenges.
  • Client Advisory: Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs, providing expert advice on risk management and coverage options.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage a diverse portfolio of special risk accounts, ensuring profitability and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with brokers, reinsurers, and internal teams to negotiate terms and secure optimal outcomes for all parties.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and prepare detailed reports on underwriting activities.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACII, ANZIIF, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • At least 4 years of experience in special risks underwriting or a related role within the insurance industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of special risks insurance products, market trends, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen ability to assess complex risks.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in risk modeling and insurance software tools.
