Aldreda Fields Limited (AFL Networks) is licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to provide Metropolitan Fibre Cable Network Services in Nigeria. AFL Networks provide Open Access Fibre Infrastructure-as-a-Service for delivery of digital services to consumers by ISP’s and other media content providers. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Splicing Technician

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Support the splicing, termination and testing of fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings
  • Maintain control of outside plant (OSP) activities surrounding the assigned work site(s)
  • Perform cable splicing/termination in accordance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems.
  • Preparing fiber sheaths, splice and test individual fibers
  • Perform proper fibre management within fiber optic enclosures
  • Maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Read and understand network splicing plans, and taking and maintaining accurate field notes.
  • Prepare engineering splicing field notes.
  • Interprete splice diagrams, buried underground, and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps and in the field.
  • Make recommendations for changes in fiber assignments.
  • Adhere to instructions and specifications given by the Project Manager, OSP specilaist, Design Engineers and Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an SSCE / GCE / NECO with 1 – 2 years experience.
  • Basic technical skills with a knack for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a highly motivated and innovative team.
  • Good team player, comfortable working with a highly diversified team.
