Job Description

Aldreda Fields Limited (AFL Networks) is licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to provide Metropolitan Fibre Cable Network Services in Nigeria. AFL Networks provide Open Access Fibre Infrastructure-as-a-Service for delivery of digital services to consumers by ISP’s and other media content providers. We are Pioneers, innovators and Provider of Future-Proof technology for delivery of World Class Broadband Services in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Splicing Technician

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Support the splicing, termination and testing of fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings
  • Maintain control of outside plant (OSP) activities surrounding the assigned work site(s)
  • Perform cable splicing/termination in accordance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems.
  • Preparing fiber sheaths, splice and test individual fibers
  • Perform proper fibre management within fiber optic enclosures
  • Maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Read and understand network splicing plans, and taking and maintaining accurate field notes.
  • Prepare engineering splicing field notes.
  • Interprete splice diagrams, buried underground, and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps and in the field.
  • Make recommendations for changes in fiber assignments.
  • Adhere to instructions and specifications given by the Project Manager, OSP specilaist, Design Engineers and Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an SSCE / GCE / NECO with 1 – 2 years experience.
  • Basic technical skills with a knack for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a highly motivated and innovative team.
  • Good team player, comfortable working with a highly diversified team.
